Birthday Purchase

yellowpillows.jpg

With birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, I picked up two of these pillows from West Elm. They should give our couch a shot of color and they’re indoor/outdoor so you can wipe them down ….good for dog owners!!

They look prettier in person, the website picture makes them look kind of tacky and tropical!

Ranunculus

I’ve been in love with ranunculus lately. One of the vendors at the Downtown Los Angeles Farmer’s Market FINALLY has them. I think they’re spring flowers.

Isn’t this bridal bouquet from InStyle Weddings gorgeous!!! SO PRETTY!! (via Brooklyn Bride)

Great Deal!!

light.jpg

Finally, a great way to replace those horrible and cheap apartment lighting fixtures. I’m super excited because I placed a $20 “best offer” bid on ebay for one of fixtures above and it was accepted. That’s a pretty good deal (the seller was asking $45). It’s going to replace our horrible bedroom light. This one is a little more modern and contemporary. Now I just have to wait for it to come.

Thanks Apartment Therapy! Such great ideas!! See link for instructions and fixture explanation!!

TWINS

baby-mama-poster.jpg

On my way to the Lovin Oven this morning (place where I get coffee), I noticed the movie poster for Baby Mama, staring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The poster brought a smile to my face because I LOVE TINA FEY. She’s fantastic!! I then proceeded to read the movie tag line and my smile quickly turned to confusion. The movie poster read “Would you put your eggs….in this basket?” Um….sounds very familiar. Has anyone seen The Return of Jezebel James?

Baby Mama:

Successful and single businesswoman Kate Holbrook has long put her career ahead of a personal life. Now 37, she’s finally determined to have a kid on her own. But her plan is thrown a curve ball after she discovers she has only a million-to-one chance of getting pregnant. Undaunted, the driven Kate allows South Philly working girl Angie Ostrowiski to become her unlikely surrogate. Simple enough … After learning from the steely head of their surrogacy center that Angie is pregnant, Kate goes into precision nesting mode: reading childcare books, baby-proofing the apartment and researching top pre-schools. But the executive’s well-organized strategy is turned upside down when her Baby Mama shows up at her doorstep with no place to live. An unstoppable force meets an immovable object as structured Kate tries to turn vibrant Angie into the perfect expectant mom. In a battle of wills, they will struggle their way through preparation for the baby’s arrival. And in the middle of this tug-of-war, they’ll discover two kinds of family: the one you’re born to and the one you make. Written by Universal Pictures

The Return of Jezebel James: (UPDATE: FOX has cancelled the show)

Amy Sherman-Palladino, creator of Gilmore Girls, brings us this multi-camera comedy about how two estranged sisters who are polar opposites try to raise a baby together.Boston Legal’s Parker Posey was cast in the lead role in this comedy pilot as Sarah Tomkins. Sarah is an intelligent, optimistic and determined woman who has it all. She’s a successful editor of children’s books with a very helpful assistant Buddy (The Good Shepherd’s Michael Arden) who keeps her life together. Also she has a steady, no-strings-attached relationship with businessman Marcus Sonti (Gilmore Girls’s Scott Cohen) a confirmed bachelor. Also Oz Dana Ivey will star as Molly an unspecified character on the series.

At the same time Sarah’s father, Ronald(Trump Unauthorized Ron McLarty) always reminds her that although she has the perfect job and boyfriend, something is missing in her life. When Sarah comes home from work she feels alone and she is also not getting any younger, so she decides to get pregnant. But the doctor soon tells her that she cannot have children, so Sarah begins an alternate plan. When she can’t find anyone she can count on to have the baby for her, she turns to her estranged sister Coco (Six Feet Under’s Lauren Ambrose). Coco refuses at first, but when Sarah mentions that she has turned Jezebel James, Coco’s imaginary childhood friend, into a story book, Coco begins to take her sister’s idea more seriously. Coco thinks about her current living status on her friend’s couch and decides to go ahead with her sister’s plan.

Um….don’t they sound VERY SIMILAR. Maybe, surrogate mother’s are just the hot ticket right now. I hope Baby Mama is better than Jezebel James.

Apartment Therapy just posted this article. Interesting…..what’s next, dancing and rock music…Footloose anyone?

No Effing Way: South Pasadena Is A Cuss-Free Zone

Visitors and residents of South Pas, get ready to curb your language! Thanks to 14-year-old McKay Hatch, South Pasadena is now a cuss-free zone. What does that mean exactly? Well, if you throw an f-bomb out in public, it won’t guarantee you a spot in the city jail; but it will earn you quite a few dirty looks from residents who are trying to “keep the city clean.”

McKay Hatch is a student at South Pasadena High School, and founder of the No Cussing Club. What started out as a high school organization grew into a 50-member club and has now expanded to a society of around 10,000 members with chapters in several states and countries. Their hope is to not only curb naughty language, but to improve the quality of life: there may be less violence if people just behave better. “You have to start with the little things,” Hatch reasons.

Hatch considers his greatest achievement to be getting his hometown of South Pasadena to become a cuss-free zone. But then again, he’s only 14…

What do you think about this movement? Do you think it can be effective in cities?

For more information about the No Cussing Club, check out their website.
