This Moved In…

This just moved into our house. We’ll see how much I like it after the weekend, when my husband doesn’t move from our couch.

Flexpetz?

I saw this on Apartment Therapy Los Angeles today. It’s a service called Flexpetz where you can basically borrow or “rent” a dog if you can’t have one permanently.

According to their webiste:

Flexpetz provides our members with local access to a variety of dogs, all of whom are rescued or rehomed, very lovable and fully trained. Flexpetz members can spend from just a few hours to a number of days with each of our dogs. Flexpetz dogs are available in varied breed sizes to ensure compatibility with our member’s individual lifestyles and unique circumstances.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Dogs are not cars that you rent for the weekend and then take back. I think pets are a commitment and not simply a luxury. I guess if the dogs were fostered while they waited for permanent homes, it might be a good service. They do claim to resue and rehome the Flexpetz animals, which is good. I just wonder how the animals feel about being shufffled around to various homes and where do the dogs go when they aren’t being “borrowed.” Why not volunteer at an animal shelter,  foster a dog, or ask a friend to borrow their dog for a day if you want canine companionship. The member fees are quite high, starting at $49.95 a month, plus a number of additional charges. I’m just not so sure about Flexpetz I’m all for rescuing animals, we rescued Dottie from the Lancaster schelter, and I always tell people to rescue and not buy, but then to make money off of them just seems wrong.

I’ve wanted to start collecting letterpress letters and I finally won my first one on Ebay. I can’t believe how expensive Letterpress letters end up going for on Ebay. Mine was a steal   I’m excited about winning this “D” because it’s in good condition and quite large at 5″ high. Let the collection begin!!
